Reset Your Happiness Counter
My clients tell me that “the most wonderful time of the year” is often the most stressful time of the year. This makes sense! One reason the holidays generate so much angst is that they can bring up the past.
Are you living with regrets from your past? Are you thinking about “could haves” and “would haves” and “should haves?”
If you are living in the past, I have a radical idea for you: Reset your happiness counter. Stop digging in your regrets folder. If you’re brave, you can put it in the trash and empty it. Reset yourself to a brand-new baseline: happiness.
Yes, but how do you actually do that? It’s not always easy, but it’s very simple.
Accept that, in the very moment you are reading this blog post, your life is “perfectly enough.”
- Focus on what you do have.
- Focus on what is working.
- Focus on your purpose.
My Purpose = Values and Gifts and Passions
What do you love? What are you great at? And what jumpstarts your soul?
When you focus on your purpose, the promise of tomorrow gets shiny and bright. Your spirit is waiting, and so are your family and friends. And. Your. Happiness!
Andre Maurois reminds us,
“The first recipe for happiness is to avoid too lengthy meditation on the past.”
