I am enjoying this ‘exercise’ – I made my list and gave myself the freedom to modify it and update it as the summer rolls along.
List includes:
1. day trip to the beach with Beloved
2. “Endless Day” trip with Beloved (road trip where we follow our noses and don’t come home until late!)
3. take a one day retreat for self
4. day hike in the Columbia Gorge
5. read some light fiction – romantic Lesbian novels – these would go well with lounging on the beach. 😉
6. Bike ride on Springwater Corridor (bike/pedestrian only rural in the city)
7. Play music outdoors (last week I took part in the local Chamber Music Jam in Mt. Tabor Park)
8. Go to a drive-in movie (do they have these anymore?)
9. Get telescope out and spend an evening observing the heavens
10. strawberry-picking with goddaughter (we three did this yesterday. yay!)
My Beloved and I have scheduled our day trips on our calendar. When the day comes, if the weather is better for the Gorge, we’ll go there instead of the beach and vice versa.
I’m going to schedule the rest of my ideas and they will have great likelihood of actually happening.
Thanks for this great idea, Chere. Your joy of living is contagious!
Mary Ellen what a great best sumer list.
My fav is where you follow your nose and don’t come home until late.
On my list this summer is to go the library without a watch..Imagine that!
Keep us up to date on creation of your best summer ok
Chere
I liked the music in the park ideas others wrote… I want to ski, sail, bike and golf every week this summer if mother nature cooperates! I will take down time every day and read for at least 30 minutes. I will meditate every morning and take a spa bath every night before I go to bed. Here is to the best summer ever!
Sounds great Kim…what books do you have lined up to read? You always have winners!
Beautiful Kim..suppose to be 97 today…great day to be on the water and ski. What lake you going to?
This coming weekend is our free weekend in June to do whatever we want! Looking forward to it!
Add to one of my favorite summer time things to do:
We like to find the best ice cream shop in every town. We visited Door County and hit our favorite Wilson’s last weekend, the weekend before that, we were in Stevens Point and had great ice cream at Belts. We also went to my all time favorite in little old Cecil, WI by Shawano called the Dairy Cove. Yummy summer treats! We have a great frozen yogurt bar now in Green Bay called Smart Cow, which will probably be my favorite here….and a bit healthier too!
I also need to add that I will have to have one night in summer to lay on the dock when we travel to Minocqua and look at the stars at night and listen to the loons! It’s these simple things in life that are the best!
love the idea Jamie of laying on the dock and looking at the stars
When I am in Rhinelander we lay on the floating trampoline and huddle together and look at the stars. Talk about savory!
You are naming all the towns I love to visit and have been really wanting to go to Door County. So thanks for the ideas and how you are living sooo intentionally to create your best summer ever.
I just finished book 15 of my Janet Evanovich series. Have gone swimming in pool 2 times – Happy SURPRISE one of my friends called me to go with her (: …. and yes we did the girlfriends night out art class – so much FUN!!!
Beth!!
congratulations!
You must be reading all the time. Hope you can go swimming this week ..suppose to be hot
nothing is better than living with intention is there….the best things in life can’t be seen or touched only felt
like intention!
I loved taking a half day of vacation and getting out of work early to bike around Medicine Lake with our DARLING Chere last friday.
Kim sounds like you need to get a few more bikes with your exchange kids coming. How lucky are they!
Thanks for the Medicine Lake bike tour! Grateful, Chere!
What a great idea! And sorry to be so late to the party! However, I have been looking at me beautiful red kayak just hanging in the basement and it needs to get out on the water! It has been a long time…So, before summer ends, I will be taking it of the wall and out on the water….Looking so forward to it! Thanks to all for the inspiration.
Stefanie..how is the red kayak? Did you pop it in the water yet?
Sadly no, too much work and too many family commitments… Hoping this weekend or the next!
I hold the intention for you Stefanie!! summering is savory hey
