How to Have Summertime Courage to be Lazy

How to Have Summertime Courage to be Lazy

  • Think of it as an experiment. Pretend your life is a movie and you are watching yourself. You are the producer, director and actor of your life. What would you do? How would you do nothing?
  • Start with five minutes of doing nothing. Start small. Sit on the couch, front step, your deck. Gaze outside or at the sky or your backyard. Go to a coffee shop and stop and just notice what is going on around you.
  • Don’t force yourself and put it on your “to do list.” You do not need to do every day just make sure you want to do nothing not “should” on yourself to do nothing. It has to be fun and joy full.
  • Gift yourself this sense of “being” instead of “doing” and remember that doing “nothing” can be MORE productive than constant doing and constant effort and work and can in fact can be a happiness booster. Successful people aren’t happy but happy people are successful!

I need to BE the best I can BE

  1. This was just the article I needed today. I slept in, took a short walk- only 1.5 miles, and went to Caribou with my son, before going to the Wayzata Depot for the annual 4th of july flying flapjack breakfast. When I got home, it was 10:30 am and I thought about how much I need to accomplish today! Do I really? Can’t I just enjoy a day off? I set the timer to start working on clearing e-mails. The timer had already gone off by the time I got to your newsletter. I am overplanned and over programmed and looking over my shoulder for the time police all the time! I will see if I can just slow down for a day.

    Thank you, Chere.
