This year for the Bork family cabin reunion Brett asked if we could have Grandma Ady’s Strawberry Pie. With cabin fridge space at a premium I prepared it there. Gram and Brett have an extra special relationship. Grandpa Howard died two years ago this July and Brett has called Gram every week checking in on her. Gram knows more about Brett’s life than his mother. Gary says Brett likes it that way!

Where is Chere savoring life?

Savoring is a quality that happy people naturally have in abundance.

Savoring = to mindfully engage in thoughts or behaviors that heighten the effect of positive events on positive feelings. There are 3 temporal forms of Savoring: (1) Anticipatory (2) In the Moment and (3) Reminiscent. We can savor a positive event before it happens by getting excited in preparation for it, we can savor the positive event as it occurs and we can savor a positive event by remembering it. What are you savoring today?

How lucky am I to be able to re-organize my coaching schedule to go to Aqua Fitness 4 days a week. The best… is I am learning from 80 year olds how to live. One day a sweet older woman in her 80’s came to the 8 am class at 9 am. She looked happy coming an hour late and told me, “We don’t set our alarm clocks anymore.” I want to be like them!

Gary crossed off Voyageur’s National Park on Rainy Lake on the Minnesota Canadian border off his bucket list. We took our nephews Steve and Daniel. Sunshine, eagles and great commentary by the US Park Service.

I finally got to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. We canoed Lake One by Ely. Don’t you love it when you have a trip planned for a month and the day comes and it’s raining. Our nephews did not complain for one second. I was wishing I could stay in the car but had to lead by good example.

Look at these gorgeous skies! I don’t know about the boys and Gary but I did feel God in the Boundary Waters.

What do you do when you have 10 people in a small cabin and it is freezing cold and rainy all weekend? You play cards. We glued our butts to our chairs and played and played some more. The problem when someone wants to snack we all want to snack.
