5 Things to Know About Procrastination

  1. Procrastinators are made not born.
  2. Procrastinators tell lies to themselves.
  3. Procrastinators actively look for distractions, particularly ones that don’t take a lot of commitment on their part.
  4. Procrastination costs a lot.
  5. Procrastinators can change their behavior — but doing so consumes a lot of psychic energy.

Who is Tasting Life?

Andrea is Tasting Life

Andrea obtained a Master’s Degree in business which led to a high paying stress filled job. She changed her life by becoming a hair stylist at the JC Penny Salon in Eden Prairie mall who works part time. She also has a great business selling Dove Chocolates and Thirty One purses. She fits her jobs into her number one value – being a mom and wife.

I was fortunate to meet Andrea. She seemed so extra happy and passionate about styling my hair for a photo shoot, which led to our discussion about her happiness. She had a big corporate job and said, “The stress of corporate life was too much for my family and I.” She advises, “Change your life to bring more happiness into it instead of always thinking about money.”

How I Stoppped Procrastinating Using the 4 Minute Rule

Instead of writing this article I found myself baking a blueberry banana cake for my newlyweds Dani and Dave. What’s amusing is that I don’t bake anymore and a cake takes a lot more time than anything else you could cook up in your kitchen. I’m not alone.

We are over the moon having Dani and Dave move back to Mpls. We enjoyed eating on the deck every night they were here. Notice all the veggies and fruit served with the BBQ Chicken. We are lucky to have Dave in the family as he is an excellent cook and cooked me breakfast every day.

Where is Chere savoring life?

Savoring is a quality that happy people naturally have in abundance.

Savoring = to mindfully engage in thoughts or behaviors that heighten the effect of positive events on positive feelings. There are 3 temporal forms of Savoring: (1) Anticipatory (2) In the Moment and (3) Reminiscent. We can savor a positive event before it happens by getting excited in preparation for it, we can savor the positive event as it occurs and we can savor a positive event by remembering it. What are you savoring today?

In Minnesota I can’t think of anything better than savoring a summer weekend at a cabin on a beautiful lake with great friends and food. The best is preparing the meal together! How lucky are we to go to the Mullaney’s cabin every summer for the Timberman Triathlon on Sugar Lake. This year Kevin Mullaney and Joe Kandiko were on the podium! What Fun!

Georgia Kandiko and Paul Mullaney should proudly show off Georgia’s delectable tenderloin. Her recipe:7 # tenderloin, 3/4 cup Hot English Mustard, 5 Tbsp. melted butter. Place beef in roasting pan. Spread mustard and pour butter over beef. Add 1 clove chopped garlic and salt and pepper. Bake in a 450 degree oven for 40 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes and serve.

Kevin Mullaney took over making the garlic mushrooms from the 5 Ingredients for Healthy Living Cookbook. After he cooked them like a pro I found out he doesn’t enjoy mushrooms. They were a perfect accompaniment to the tenderloin. We doubled the recipe and could have tripled it.
Recipe here.

Quinlan Mullaney prepared the balsamic green beans. These beans are a fancy “smanchy” version of green beans and taste like more than 5 ingredients. Perfect for our party entrée! This recipe is also from our cookbook. Recipe here.
