Life finally slows down after the holidays. The time between the Christmas holidays and my birthday, February 18th, is the perfect time to reflect on what I really want this year to look and feel like. And, to reflect on what is working and not working in my life before my garden, swimming outdoors and my little blue kayak steal my attention.

Our special power

My mom never taught me about the special power I have within me. I bet your mom didn’t teach you either. Successful athletes, celebrities, corporate peak performers and many super-rich all have it and use it. Visualization and creating your vision! Where is Chere savoring life?

Savoring is a quality that happy people naturally have in abundance.

Savoring = to mindfully engage in thoughts or behaviors that heighten the effect of positive events on positive feelings. There are 3 temporal forms of Savoring: (1) Anticipatory (2) In the Moment and (3) Reminiscent. We can savor a positive event before it happens by getting excited in preparation for it, we can savor the positive event as it occurs and we can savor a positive event by remembering it. What are you savoring today?

Gary and I and 100,000 other spectators were in awe of the athletes we watched compete at the Red Bull Crashed Ice St. Paul. The Cathedral of Saint Paul provided the perfect backdrop to the course which included a 48 foot drop. The crowds were so giant it took several stop lights to even cross the streets. We were bundled up so much it hardly mattered, as we could hardly walk anyway. What a fun cold people watching evening!

My friend Kim Beyer has two foreign exchange students. Mathilda Svensson from Gothemburg, Sweden and Paula Castro from Galicia, Spain.

They came to learn how to bake cream puffs (my favorite food to bake). I showed them Egglands Best Eggs, which are known for their award winning taste, and superior nutrition. They are the only eggs I buy. Check out Eggland Best Eggs this week when you grocery shop. We had so much fun I would love to cook with them every weekend!

The easiest way to savor is to use our senses. The seashells I bought back help me to continue to savor the beach on Marco Island, especially on this snowy snowstorm day in Mpls.
