PPP IS ENERGIZING HER HOLIDAY SEASON AND TASTING LIFE
I am abandoning lots of decorating I will put up the tree, lay out the snow pillows, place items on the seasonal wall and otherwise enjoy an un-cluttered house for Christmas. I will make the kids welcome at our house, but avoid attending the big family bashes that my daughter in laws family expects of her. I will offer to baby sit the 2 year old, but it will be a limited offer other members of the extended family can pitch in.

JOYFUL JENN IS DESHOULDING HER HOLIDAYS AND TASTING LIFE
I didnt put on any more weight even with Thanksgiving. I had the best Thanksgiving yet because I let go of a should (as in I should always host the holidays at my house!). I had a very candid conversation with my boss where I told her that for the next 16 years (thats when E , age 2, will be out of high-school) my number-1 job is to be a mom. And every decision I make will be in favor of whats best for my family, not my career!

JOYFUL JEANNE IS SIMPLIFYING HER HOLIDAY AND TASTING LIFE
We are in the mode of "get it done by Dec. 10". I think I'll host a party for co-workers on Dec. 12. That will help with the incentive factor. We plan to decorate 2 "fake" trees this year. We plan to put one up by this Saturday and put one layer on at a time. Lights, strings, and then decorations. Gifts? Not doing much shopping this year - Gift cards and cash!
Im going to take a nap because I just have too much to do
TASTE LIFE BALANCE RECIPE OF THE MONTH
My Moms Chili
Every mom has their own special chili. This is moms Milwaukee chili I was served as a child and still savor today! Nothing beats the aromatic appeal of a pot of chili awaiting you after a long day of working or holiday shopping. All of these ingredients would be easy to keep on hand and ready to make any day a holiday
with only a little time in your kitchen.
1 pound ground turkey, browned, rinsed in hot water and drained (removes 20 30% of the fat)
2 15-oz cans hot chili beans (can also use mild chili beans or kidney beans)
1 15.5-oz can tomato sauce
1 cup or 3 stalks celery, chopped
1 cup or 1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup water
Place all ingredients in crock pot. Cook on low heat for 6 to 8 hours. Stir in chili powder (approximately 1 teaspoon) or to taste. You can garnish with light sour cream or plain yogurt, low fat shredded cheese and/or chopped green onions.
Yield: Approximately 6 cups
Serve with fresh veggies and dip, breadsticks, and, of course, warm conversation.
ARE YOU BUSY IN LIFE OR DOING THE BUS-I-NESS OF YOUR LIFE?
Whew!! November is done! November started with painting the laundry room on Halloween evening a rusty pumpkin orange color (not kidding!) I provided many presentations to hundreds of people and enjoyed two special family weekends in Wisconsin. To top this stellar month, on Thanksgiving Day Brett celebrated his 17th birthday and Danielle celebrated her 20th! (I call it their bingo birthday when you share your birthday with your brother or sister and also celebrate a major holiday like Thanksgiving!!! After all these years, they are STILL getting used to sharing their birthdays!)
Frequently, my mom says, Chere, you are just too busy! I always tell her, Mom I am not too busy I just have a wonderful rich life. I honestly think I have more energy than most people because I have really gotten rid of things that drain my energy (we call these energy drains tolerations in the coaching world) and also know exactly what gives me energy. (I have an actual written list of energy chargers my favorite charger upper is taking a short nap!)
Busy to me means working a lot and always feeling behind - you know that overwhelmed I cant do this life anymore feeling! I dont feel busy or overwhelmed too often any more because I focus on the bus-I-ness of my life. Have you ever examined the word bus-I-ness? Notice the letter I is in the middle of this word. I feel I am responsible for the bus-I-ness of my life and in November that meant sprucing up my physical environment by redoing my laundry room; giving presentations that made my spirit soar: and creating time for my most joyful relationships my families in Wisconsin. I know when I get too busy in life I cant focus on what is truly important the people in my life. Busy in life is like living without careful nurturing of the bus-I-ness of your life - the people that really matter to you the most.
Try these action steps to take control of the bus-I-ness of your life.
- Start each morning with an intention for your day.
- Get grounded at the start of your day by praying, meditating, journaling, or writing in your gratitude journal.
- Create a plan for only 1 3 baby goals to accomplish each day.
- Connect with one special person each day.
- And, dont forget to take a nap!!
