More Traits of Successful Dietitians

For Registered Dietitian Day earlier this week, I asked my favorite registered dietitians from the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group to share their top traits of a successful dietitian. I had so many great responses, the post had to be broken into 3 parts! Here’s part three:

  • “Being flexible and adaptable while continuously honing skills and maintaining integrity personally and professionally.  Being judicious in prioritizing the ‘yes-factor’ so that opportunities are shared and passed on to other qualified RDs, while never forgetting to mentor and nurture burgeoning RDs, allowing all ships to rise!  Always listening to the client before speaking.”- Donna Israel
  • Self- confidence! I find SO many RDs undervalue themselves!  The public and clients will see you as you present yourself to the world – however that may be. –Julie L. Starkel, MS, MBA, RD
  • Empathy. If we can’t put ourselves in the shoes of patients and clients and meet them where they’re at in terms of motivation, readiness to change, knowledge, and resources, our expertise is worthless. Erin Kuh, MBA, RD/CD
