McDonald’s Adding Calorie Counts To Their Menu
My kid’s favorite fast food was McDonalds. Danielle called it “Mickey D’s.” As a Registered Dietitian mom, I gave the Danielle and Brett two options hamburger or cheeseburger. The four of us would typically eat 5 cheeseburgers and a large order of fries. Sometimes we all drank soda and sometimes we all drank milk. This worked until their friends began to influence them and they wanted to order giant sandwiches and large fries. I think sometimes people just acquire a supersize habit and don’t even realize the calorie overload. So, I am super excited that starting this month, McDonald’s will be posting the calorie information on menus and drive-thrus in restaurants nationwide.
Under 400 Calories
This past summer, McDonald’s introduced a “Favorites Under 400” menu .
2013 Menu Testing
McDonald’s will be testing these foods next year.
- More seasonal fruit and vegetables options, such as blueberries and cucumbers, during peak seasons.
- Additional produce side options and grilled chicken choices for Happy Meals.
- The McWrap, inspired by McDonald’s Europe, features fresh vegetables and is available in three flavors – Chicken & Bacon, Sweet Chili Chicken, and Chicken & Ranch – starting at 350 calories.
- New breakfast choices, including an egg-white breakfast sandwich on an English muffin made with 8 grams of whole grain
I am super excited for the egg white breakfast sandwich and the new versions of the McWrap! Will the calorie information on the menu affect your menu choice? I’d love to know.
