Attract What You Want: Step by Step Visualization Guide
Life finally slows down after the holidays. The time between the Christmas holidays and my birthday, February 18th, is the perfect time to reflect on what I really want this year to look and feel like. And, to reflect on what is working and not working in my life before my garden, swimming outdoors and my little blue kayak steal my attention.
Our special power
My mom never taught me about the special power I have within me. I bet your mom didn’t teach you either. Successful athletes, celebrities, corporate peak performers and many super-rich all have it and use it. Visualization and creating your vision! My mentor and friend, Margaret Moore, CEO of Wellcoaches®, states “A vision is a compelling statement, of who you want to become, or grow into, and what health promoting, life giving behaviors you will be engaging in consistently when you get there.”
A vision is simply your state of mind
It captures what you truly desire and should evoke super strong, positive emotions that make it so compelling you can taste it and want to live it out. It activates the power within you and the law of attraction, drawing the people, opportunities, and resources for exactly what you need in your life to achieve your goal.
Visualization is easy as pie. You sit in a chair and close your eyes and take a few breaths and visualize what you truly desire in life. Paint the picture of your future self like you are already living it. Look through the lenses like you are the director, producer and actor of your life. Listen to this visualization exercise I created just for my Taste Life Subscribers.
Mental Rehearsal Successful athletes use mental rehearsal. The athletes imagine the game from their perspective as though they are actually competing as if it were a mental trial run. They break down their performance into tiny parts and work on improving specific aspects. They engage all their senses. They feel it, taste it, hear it, and experience their competitors, their sweat and their audience. This focused intention is now deemed essential for star athletes to win their game. Read the three steps to mental rehearsal.
Why does this matter?
Dick Leider, one of the world’s leading career coaches, interviewed 1000 senior citizens who retired from successful, distinguished in leading companies. He asked them only one question: If you had your life to live over again what would you do differently? The number one answer is they would take more time to be reflective. “I’d take more time to think about whether the choices and decisions I was making in life were leading me to where I wanted to go in life.” They got so caught up in the doing, they say, that they often lost sight of the meaning. It often took a crisis for them to look at their lives in perspective and try to reestablish the context. Looking back, they wish they had stopped at regular intervals to look at the big picture.
They also sounded a huge warning: life picks up speed. The first half of your life is about getting prepared and getting established. Then time shifts gears. You hit the second half of your life, and everything moves faster. Days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and all of a sudden, you’re 65 years old. Looking back, they say, you realize that time is the most precious currency in life. And as they got older, having time for reflection became even more important.

What is your vision? Are you too busy in life to reflect on the business of your life? Better be careful, as J Barker states “Vision without actions merely a dream. Action without vision just passes time. Vision with action can change your world.” You are in charge of making your life slow down. You are where your thoughts brought you. You become what you think about…better get busy on owning the business of your life. Imagine you have one life to live, just imagine if it was one you truly loved! Here to help, Love Chere!
How has visioning helped your life? We can’t wait to hear on our blog.

What a great article. How true that life only seems to get faster the older we get. I often feel that there is not enough time in my day to do all I would like and in all reality I am only creating more busy work for myself rather than slowing down and enjoying and appreciating what I truly have. Thanks so much for the article Chere! Cheerio!
You are so righyt Todd…not enough time..that’s why it is so important to measure your energy ..what gives you energy and what depletes it.. Energy is infinite and time is finite!
