Honey
Grocery shopping after an evening meeting at 9:30 at night is surely no fun. I could not for the life of me find the honey. Finally out of the corner of my eye I spied the tired-looking store manager. I literally ran over to him and asked, “Where is the honey?” With very quick wit he replied, “Didn’t you leave him at home?” We both laughed and for a minute, and we didn’t feel tired! Honey is like that it gives me a quick pick me up.

What do I love about honey?
For starters, is all about the additive-free journey from the bee to the bottle. There are more than 300 unique types of honey available in our USA. Each originates from a different floral source. The lighter the color the milder the taste of the honey, while the dark colored honeys is a lot stronger. WE love to shop farmers markets to discover new flavors we have not tried before.
Honey is So Versatile
- Sweetener: Honey is slightly sweeter than sugar, so less can be used to achieve the same sweetness intensity.
- Flavor: Honey not only imparts a unique flavor to any dish, but it also balances and enhances the flavor profiles of other ingredients used in a recipe.
- Emulsifier: Honey acts as a binder and thickener for sauces, dressings, marinades and dips like the Fennel Melon Salad recipe.
Power Up With Honey
Honey has 17 grams of carbohydrate and 64 calories per tablespoon and is a natural energy booster for athletes, kids and busy moms and dads. I often add tablespoon of honey to water for a quick pick me up.
September is the National Honey Month and the perfect time to read about more honey’s health benefits. Honey makes me happy, how about you? How do you use honey? I gotta know.
