Easy Way to Start a New Habit
You want to get healthy and just don’t know how to start. An easy idea is to use anchoring, which is attaching a new habit to an old one. It is a little reminder to do a new habit.
Here are some ideas:
- Pack your lunch for the next day when you are cleaning up your dinner.
- After you eat breakfast, set your table in the morning before you go to work so you are ready to go in the evening. It only takes five minutes but when you walk in the door and see the table it makes you feel special.
- When you leave work put on your tennis shoes to remind you to take a walk or run when you get home.
- Or, put your tennis shoes and workout clothes by your toothbrush to remind you to exercise when you get up.
- On Friday at the end of your work week before you go home, write a plan of action for eating, exercise and time for family and friends for the next week.
- On Sunday make a cup of coffee and read the paper and create your weekly grocery list.
