Who is Tasting Life?

Nancy a Taste Life Subscriber writes:

Chere, I am always searching for the "secret piece" that seems to be missing to balance out my life. When work is great, home life suffers and vice versa. Each month, you are that gentle reminder to take the time to Savor life.

I like the ending part to each of your emails about the three ways to savor. I think I do great at looking forward (but sometimes I get stressed about stuff that should be fun), and I do GREAT at savoring after....but I need to focus more on the "during". You always remind me to take the time - savor EVERY moment. —Nancy

Risking Nothing is the Biggest Risk of All

The coffee tastes better. The sun seemed warmer on this chilly January morning. People seemed nicer.  Wonder if it was me?

Today at my eye doctor appointment (my bgillioneth, actually my 31st) Dr. Bennett, my retina surgeon exclaimed, “You have a beautiful eye! You are done, and you don’t have to come back!” With tears in my eyes I thanked him for changing my life with his skilled surgeon hands, smart brain and humble personality. I love humble doctors!

Surprise Abundance! Gary and I were sitting in the waiting room at The Eye Care Center at Fairview Southdale and a woman dressed in scrubs came into the waiting room, almost cheering, “The Borks are here, the Borks are here!” Who was this woman? It was our friend, Deb Shea and she was going to be my nurse. She immediately put me at ease. How lucky was I!?

Since October 2011, after my cataract surgery I have struggled with cloudy vision. I had to blink away the “clouds” to see anything. It was like wearing glasses with lotion smeared over the lenses. Read More...

Where is Chere savoring life?

Savoring is a quality that happy people naturally have in abundance.

Savoring = to mindfully engage in thoughts or behaviors that heighten the effect of positive events on positive feelings. There are 3 temporal forms of Savoring: (1) Anticipatory (2) In the Moment and (3) Reminiscent. We can savor a positive event before it happens by getting excited in preparation for it, we can savor the positive event as it occurs and we can savor a positive event by remembering it. What are you savoring today?

A first for Gary — a wedding shop. Taking our shoes off at the door was our first surprise. And, even more surprising were the number of men in the store “helping.” If you need “happy”, head to a wedding shop.

The song says love makes the world go around. Danielle’s and Dave’s love seems to rub off on the entire room. We are lucky to hang out with them.
