5 WAYS TO COMPLETE AND CELEBRATE THIS YEAR

Before you can put more goodness in your life, stop and complete and appreciate the significance of this year first.

  1. Make a list of the top 10 accomplishments in 2011 that you are most proud of. (You can email me a copy!)
  2. Make a list of the mistakes, regrets, things you wished you hadn’t done or said in the past year. Clean up these mistakes if it is appropriate.
  3. Promise yourself not to think about January until December 26. Enjoy the magic of the season.
  4. What was the smartest decision you made in 2001? Why?
  5. Make a list of the top 5 people who made the most difference in your life. Send them a thank you note. People love receiving these Savor Your Life Greeting cards.

“My Advent devotion today sparked a thought that went with your gratitude message.

I am from Wausau, WI and met you in Eau Claire a few years ago at the Wisconsin State Hospital Association convention.

In Advent, many children enjoy opening little windows on an Advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas. And retailers always like to remind us on a daily basis of how many days we have left until Christmas. But sometimes something happens when we start counting down the days like this. We don’t always live in the moment.

The Bible tells us to number our days aright, Psalm 90:12. To me that means to treasure each day that we are given by God. Someone once said, “Each day is a gift. That is why we call it the present.” We need to consider what we are doing each day of Advent to celebrate the blessings of today. Instead of just rushing to get through the day to cross it off our calendars, ask yourself, “How will I celebrate this 24 hour present from God today?”

Thank You ... The priceless gift

Getting the mail is the highlight of my day. I love receiving handwritten cards and notes. I received this card a few days ago and have it proudly displayed on what I call my “Chere shrine,” the kitchen sink window sill where I place my current treasures. It absolutely made my day. (The “Chere shrine” drives Gary nuts as stuff constantly falls into the kitchen sink.)

Serotonin happiness booster

WOW! What an A++ serotonin happiness booster. The letter was priceless and made my day.

Serotonin is a chemical in your brain that is related to feeling good. When you are depressed, or sad, you often have low levels of serotonin. Research has shown that when you are on the “receiving end of goodness” your serotonin levels actually rise. However the better news is that when you deliver your “goodness gift of YOU,” your serotonin levels also rise almost equally. When you increase your serotonin levels you lower your stress levels and increase your inner peace and joy.

Busy People Can Have Time to Cook Real Oven Fried Chicken Without Guilt

Oven Fried Chicken from the 5 Ingredient for Healthy Living Cookbook
All year you were thinking “I should be healthy” and it didn’t happen. No worries.
It is never too late. Focus on who you want to become this coming next year not on what you need to overcome.  Start now before the holidays really reeve up so you are already in action when the New Year pops in.

This recipe is fried chicken without the guilt and easy on your budget too. You can double the recipe and cook it once and eat it twice. Great cold in your lunch. We grew up in Milwaukee eating leftover cold chicken and stuffing.  If you are gluten intolerant you could substitute crushed rice or corn chex cereal for the bread crumbs.

Kids love to cook if you let them. Stevie Ray whipped up Oven Fried Chicken in about 15 minutes top.

1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs or cracker crumbs
4 Tbsp. grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
4 skinless boneless chicken breasts, cut in half
2 Tbsp. olive oil

Preheat oven to 400F. Oil a wire rack and place on a foil lined baking sheet. Pour buttermilk into a shallow dish. Combine breadcrumbs, cheese, salt and pepper in a gallon-size zipper plastic bag. Dip chicken in buttermilk then place in plastic bag and shake until all pieces are coated.  Place on prepared baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.  Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Turn over and bake additional 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes four 3 ounce servings.

If you are concerned about your sodium intake you can omit the sodium. I don’t use much salt in our cooking, so I feel A ok using 1/4 tsp of salt to zest up this entrée.

Nutritional analysis per serving: 315 Calories; 29 gm Protein; 12.6 gm Fat; 21.3 gm Carbohydrate; 444 mg Sodium

Where is Chere savoring life?

Savoring is a quality that happy people naturally have in abundance.

Savoring = to mindfully engage in thoughts or behaviors that heighten the effect of positive events on positive feelings. There are 3 temporal forms of Savoring: (1) Anticipatory (2) In the Moment and (3) Reminiscent. We can savor a positive event before it happens by getting excited in preparation for it, we can savor the positive event as it event as it occurs and we can savor a positive event by remembering it. What are you savoring today?

The giantenormous news is that David Schurter asked Danielle to marry him on the steps of the capitol in Madison the day before Thanksgiving. I love his love for food. Gary loves his love for biking and outdoors. We both love that he loves our Danielle.

Piano movers moving my piano and the entire family is “helping!” When I turned 40 we bought a piano and the kids and I took lessons. I decided to give my piano to my sister Michele as I was not playing like I thought I would. New chapter! When you want to create more abundance in your life you have to create the energy and space for it first.

Thanksgiving was extra special this year with our double birthdays. Brett was born on Danielle’s third birthday on Thanksgiving 23 years ago. This year they celebrated their Thanksgiving birthdays at Auntie Pam’s in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

My PALS Mastermind Professional Speaking Group enjoyed NSA MN Holiday Party at the Susan Zimmerman’s home.

Julie Zabloski hosted an amazing neighborhood party. We sat for hours at her dining room table chatting and laughing and eating all the food she prepared for us. If food is love she must really love us. Thank you Julie! We all love you back!
