5 TIPS TO DISCOVERING YOUR "HAPPY"

  1. Ask yourself: Am I living to work or working to live?
  2. Would the people that love me the most say I am living to work or working to live?
  3. Don’t let someone else write your script. Remember you are the producer, director and actress / actor of your life.
  4. Get to know your personal values – the quick easy way to live a time-rich life. Cherecoach can help!!
  5. Love yourself and listen to your intuition like Susan Boyle did when she opened her mouth to sing on Britain’s Got Talent 2009. Your intuition never lies.

CHERECOACH QUESTION THAT COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE

If Chere were a mouse in my pocket would she be able to tell my values?

TASTE LIFE SUBSCRIBERS WROTE AFTER LAST MONTH’S ARTICLE ON WAKE UP TO HOPE:

“Loved the last issue. Yes, I feel like this too is a huge wakeup call and as your client said, “I’m awake.” I want to go back and read it again.” Joyful Janet

“Yup, we have only one life to live, but if we live it right, once is enough. Love having you in my life, which is part of making it right” LeaRae

"Hey Godchild----You are really something. I would like to be like you when I grow up.
Love--Aunt Doris"

“It was perfect timing for me to receive and read your newsletter “ Beautiful Kimmy :)

“Just wanted to thank you for another inspiring Taste Life. Your message was “Waking up to Hope” was exactly what I needed. Been feeling down and slow and so tired - this is a slow time for my work but it will pick up starting next week. I've been mostly sleeping, reading, watching TV, not getting dressed. But after reading your encouraging message I took a shower, got dressed, fed my cat and went to my niece Roxanne's new house where we shared pizza and conversation. I hope you are doing well and are happy. As always your words light up my life. Love to you, my friend.” S

“Hi Chere- Thank you! Our conversation is exactly what I needed this morning- you have an uncanny way of eliciting feelings of encouragement, hope, JOY, and enjoyment. Thank you for your gifts!

I just read your ezine as well- great information! I echoed your sentiments of sadness with the lay-offs two weeks ago…my branch had lay-offs last week and eliminated 10 out of 80 positions. What I learned during that difficult, very long week last week was to enjoy each day, be grateful with my job, and recognize certain job decisions will be out of my control and that I’m OK with it. I am focusing on hope instead of fear, and recognizing what I specifically enjoy about my job- meaningful relationships with my customers and coworkers, offering helpful solutions, and ways I can help others- energized abundance!” Jane

AMY YOUNG, A TASTE LIFE SUBSCRIBER, WRITES:

“Hi Chere! Isn't it amazing that in the ten minutes that I did get to meet you that you could make such an impression? In those few minutes you shopped at my “Books are Fun” book fair at the Paper Valley hotel while you were at a conference doing what “you do best.” life. You told me in those ten minutes to follow my dreams. And I did!!

I truly do believe that people are put into your life and although it was just for a few minutes of "chatting"…it is a conversation that I will always treasure. You never know whose life you will touch…or inspire…by taking a few minutes to talk and listen and motivate. I sincerely will always remember our conversation…our brief conversation…that "inspiring" day.

I now have two books in print. "One So Small" is dedicated to precious, new life. Each new life is a gift…and this book celebrates each new life with the reader. A perfect gift book for new parents and expecting parents, grandparents, or anyone who has someone "new" in their life.
"Because You Serve" is a dedication to our troops and soldiers. It expresses gratitude to all those who serve so that we can be free. "It's a big, thank you card" in a book form to anyone who serves in the armed forces. The perfect gift book to send to anyone who is away from home and family to remind them that their time and dedication is so very much appreciated.

If someone is interested in obtaining a copy or seeks additional information they can contact me at my email address: aim702@hotmail.com. I would be thrilled to provide them with more information.

You told me in those ten minutes to follow my dreams. I'm on my way!! Through the monthly emails you have made a difference in my life. Bless you, Miss Chere!!!!” —Amy Young

Chere writes: I was shocked to receive an email from Amy saying a ten minute chat changed her life. I had no clue. Who needs ten minutes of your time?

“Living a day in your life aligned with your values tucks you in bed at night with a smile on your heart and no regrets.” Chere

TASTE LIFE BALANCE RECIPE OF THE MONTH

Moroccan Stir Fry
All my clients talk about the “hour of heck” — the time you come home from work until the time you eat dinner. It is easy to serve up health if you plan ahead and use soy crumbles instead of ground meat in your favorite recipes. You will save time, and calories. Time — imagine having your ground meat already browned…soy crumbles are ready to go. You just add them to whatever dish you are preparing.

You save calories and saturated fat and add a bit of fiber!

Food 3 ounce portion Calories Fat Saturated Fat Fiber
Soy crumbles 120 4 gm 0 gm .75 gm
80% lean ground beef 228 15 gm 5.9 gm 0
90% lean ground beef 169 9 gm 3.5 gm 0

Brett loves anything spicy. We prepared this dish for an evening meal during his spring break. He didn’t know it was soy and never guessed it was “different” than ground beef. Give this quick healthy recipe a try. Adapt the seasonings to what you like. Basil and oregano would also taste great in this recipe and give it an Italian flavor.

6 ounces textured vegetable protein (soy crumbles)* or 1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
1 tbsp olive oil
2 carrots, peeled and sliced
2 peppers 1 green and 1 red, sliced
1 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp each of ginger, cumin, and cinnamon
1 28 ounce can diced tomatoes

In medium heat Sauté carrots, peppers and onions and garlic in the olive oil
Add soy crumbles, seasonings and tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 additional minutes.

*Morningstar Farms® Meal Starters™ Grillers™ Recipe Crumbles™ was used in this recipe. (www.seeveggiesdifferently.com) which is found in 12 ounce bags in the freezer case by the frozen vegetarian foods. You can use in your favorite ground beef recipes like tacos, sloppy joes or spaghetti. Soy takes on the flavor of whatever spices you combine it with. Your family taste buds will never know but their hearts will know the difference!

Serves 6. Serve with couscous or rice, fresh green beans (1/2 your plate) and warm conversation.

I SHOULD BE HAPPIER – TIPS TO WAKE UP TO WHAT’S MISSING

“Life has been a struggle to find time to survive my hectic life. I have been trying to survive; between balancing a demanding job, being a mom and being a wife, I had lost myself in the process. Not only had I lost myself, I had become time poor and an overworked employee who was stressed with finding time to not be at work.

I would work, work, and work! And my reward was more work, more deadlines and more expectations. At one point, my day consisted of waking up spending maybe 30 minutes with my family, going to work, coming home from work, spending around 2 hours with my family and then working on my laptop in my bed until midnight. Was I able to rest and sleep peacefully during the night-NO! Often I would wake up and spend a couple hours thinking about everything that I needed to get done or spend some quiet time trying to solve challenges that I was facing.

I would wake up exhausted! Start the routine all over again. When I realized that I was spending maybe 3 hours a day with my family and sometimes my mind was on work during that time—I knew I needed to make some changes.

I hired Chere as my life coach and we started “peeling back the onion” and I started learning about me. We worked through my values, my needs and my personality (PRINT®Assessment)
What made me energized and why was I spending so much time on things that were not making me happy and not aligned with my values. My energy levels were low and I was losing the ability to recharge. And then one day everything changed, my position was eliminated and I was laid off. It was as though the world’s heaviest weight was lifted from my shoulders and I instantly felt a calm come over me. All of the things that seemed so important and kept me awake at night became someone else’s concern. I was suddenly time rich!” —M

6 months ago Mary hired me to “find her happy.” To the outside world Mary looked successful – VP of Sales and Support for a big corporation; a mom of a delightful 3 year old, a nice home in the Mpls “burbs” and a supportive, loving husband. Our very first coaching session, Mary stated, “I’m a busy person and not always busy doing the things I value. I’m losing my self in my life. Something is missing…I should be able to enjoy life more.”

And so we began her path to happy. We started with identifying her personal needs, which were to be valued, get credit, be included and do the right thing. It was clear her needs were not met at work, which led to much frustration and job discontentment. She was great at strategic visioning for her company but did not feel included or appreciated for her ideas. Personal needs are our foundation for who we are and, when not met, our life feels like a constant struggle.

Next, we identified her values, which were faith, family and career. Values are like the treasures of your heart — the things you hold nearest and dearest to you. Living your values through daily actions is the easiest and most direct route to feeling happy, accomplished and content. A day of your life aligned with your values tucks you in bed at night with a smile on your heart and no regrets.

If your values are not aligned with your day, you feel miserable, stressed, burned out and like you are always waiting for something. Perhaps like Mary felt, “Something is missing. I should be happier.” Your values are your “ wants" — your joys, your desires — versus your “shoulds” which are filled with shame, duty or guilt. Your values are your core principles that will guide you through the good times and the bad. They are always there for you.

There are two kinds of people — time rich and time poor. Time rich people have a secret — they live their life by their values. When you engage in activities in which you feel most like yourself, you feel connected and excited to get out of bed in the morning (job or no job), and life feels effortless. When you live your values on a daily basis, you will discover the missing ingredient to being happy. Remember, happiness is liking who you are, what you do and how you do it. It starts with the “who” of you — your personal needs and values. Our last coaching call Mary stated, “I’m happier now without a job than with a job.” Mary has woken up to being time rich. Isn’t it time you woke up to what you dreamed life would be? Your one and only life is waiting! With gratitude and love, Chere
